Travel To Asia: Hong Kong – The Jervois

Having lived my whole life in New York City, I’ve become a bit judgemental when going to another metropolis. Any big city must meet my standards of what I’ve experienced before. Please don’t think of it as pretentious, but with only NYC as a standard, I have expectations of any other city I visit. When I visited Hong Kong for the first time, I never really ‘experienced’ it. So I decided to go again and take the time to truly embrace this incredible city. I picked a couple of landmarks to visit and took my camera to find these treasures.

The result was an experience I could never have imagined in my life. Below are shots I took at famous places in Hong Kong but what makes them truly famous are their location and how to get there. Most are hidden in estates or up mountains, The journey to those locations are what make these photos priceless. You may look at these photos and see how visually pleasing they are, but to me, they are sweat, tears, and hours of trekking alone in a different country for just the right shot. Upon gazing at my destination, a sudden flush of Fuego erupted in me. A sense of accomplishment. A sense of gratefulness. A sense of purpose.

Hong Kong exceeded all my standards and expectations of a city. Below are 5 reasons why you need to explore Hong Kong.

The Jervois

I specifically picked this hotel in Hong Kong because I wanted to take pictures in the floor to ceiling window rooms. To my surprise, the higher rooms with better views were unavailable. Nonetheless, the hotel is incredibly beautifully decorated with a gorgeous modern design that makes this small hotel room look as if it’s massive. The two room apartment comes with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, and shower. The shower itself is embedded into the ceiling that makes it seem like the water is rainwater. In person, the apartment is quite small costing about $350 a night. However, it is a must at least for 2 nights while you stay in Hong Kong.

It truly felt enchanting to be in such a modern place with a neighborhood having a simplistic appeal. Most dive bars and restaurants barely fit 25 people, but the charm of this area was wonderfully delightful. Neon lights in tight spaces with so much commotion, art, and beauty do something to the mind. It truly unlocks it.

I am most proud of this shot at LOK WAH SOUTH ESTATE. I took this shot myself traveling across the world, over an hour uphill away from my hotel, like an adventure to find this incredibly beautiful and remote remarkable work of art right in the middle of an estate. As I looked at it and took the shot, I thought to myself "How incredibly fun would it be to travel the world finding these pockets of art and magic all over the world? To travel the world to share with you all these far away beauties?" One can dream no? Even though I haven’t made it, I can continue to find beautiful pockets of the world to share with you. Travel To Asia: Guangzhou- Shamian Island Chapter

Stop for a second and just take a moment to ask yourself this question, ” If you could go anywhere in the world, somewhere, anywhere, all expenses paid, no limit. Where would you go? What would you like to do?” Have you ever looked at a map and thought, ” What’s it like to live on the other side of the street? State? Country? World?” 

There are two things that I crave when I travel the world: one is to see beauty, the second to taste. These experiences are ones that are enveloped in emotions, moments, friends, and families that create memories we die cherishing. I want to cherish all that this world has to offer. Visit the wonders of our beautiful planet and the miracles that come from the people that live there.

Let me introduce to you the most tourist spot in Guangzhou unknown to the world. This paradise is a sharp contrast to the busy streets of China with foliage, French architecture and colonial ambiance. It’s a must-see for the world travel.

White Swan Hotel – Shamian Island, Guangzhou

The beautiful and unique sandbank of Shamian Island in the Liwan District of Guangzhou, Guangdong province China was divided into two concessions given to the French and British in the 19th century. An important port for Guangzhou for foreign trade, Shamian Island became a strategic point of business and defense.

Now the stone mansions that once  housed the first trading companies from
Britain, the United States, France, Holland, Italy, Germany, Portugal, and Japan have been maintained along the waterfront. White Swan Hotel is located at the edge of Shamian Island right along the infamous Pearl River.

The territory was divided into two concessions given to France and the United Kingdom by the Qing government in the 19th century. PAX EAST 2018 Recap eMLS PAX Arena [IG Recap]

Finally got around to post some IG Stories from my trip to PAX East.

Super proud to have worked to bring to fruition eMLS!

Appearing at PAX Arena 2018 for the first time ever, eMLS is the first FIFA Tournament in history. Sponsored by SONY, Adidas,  and ATT&T, the tournament saw 30 actually teams being represented by an influencer/pro player in the scene. The tournament lasted all four days of PAX with the winner receiving a contract to represent their team in the World Championship.

I am not a good packer. LoL I pack stuff I don’t need all the time.

Besides working the floor, I got to see some friends and check out other booths! Twitch booth gave away expressos with their cinnamon printed logos! This year there was no live streaming component to Twitch’s booth, a first in history.

My week was a lot of work, but I was able to relax and have fun as well!

Had a blast doing taking photos of this fight scene in NYC! Led by the fight director for the Sweeney Todd now on broadway, it was pretty amazing to see how real the fighting look. I took some cool shots, snaps, and IG stories along the way to share with you all!

Dominican Republic Trip: Sisters The Label Photoshoot + Mirina Collections Brand Ambassador

When I reached out to Sisters The Label for help in doing a photo shoot with their Satin Silk Champagne Wrap Two Piece Gown while I was in the Dominican Republic (DR), I was shocked at their eagerness to help me get the gown in time for my trip.  None of this would have been possible without that, and I want to start out this blog with a big THANK YOU to Sisters The Label for making this possible!(Shutouts to Bridgette!) 

My Weight Loss Journey

Before going into the photo shoot and the gown details, I wanted to discuss a bit more about why I did this. My struggle with my weight since January has been that of an uphill battle. I have been trying to lose weight for years and finally decided that I needed to hire a personal trainer. I do not regret it at all! From January to July I went from 150 lbs to 127 lbs. I have never thought such a feat was possible! I wanted to celebrate this moment by doing a photo shoot revealing my hard work.

I will say, I am not fit and lean as I had wanted, but this is absolutely something I am proud of. As someone who was the definition of a muffin top not too long ago, even though I am not complete shaped, I have accomplished getting pretty damn close to my weight in college.

SATIN SILK CHAMPAGNE WRAP TWO PIECE GOWN

My impression of the gown at first was in awe of its quality, feel, and lightness. The fabric is breathable and lays lightly on your body providing full coverage if you decide not to wear anything under.  This particular gown is meant to be worn anywhere and in many different ways. The tops can be wrapped around your neck to create halter or around your chest as a bandeau. I had tried experimenting with other styles, but it proved to be difficult without additional accessories like a brioche, pin, or belt.

The gown is 100% silk and needs to be dry cleaned if it gets dirty. Water does not stain it but any other liquid does indeed stain it. For my height (standing at 5 feet 4 inches) the skirt did drag on the floor, but once I wore 3-inch heels it no longer was an issue. The bottom dress is tied together with a string attached to the top hem of the skirt. This outfit makes for great beach wear addition but as a dress on its own, you will need to modify the bottom with a brioche as the skirt opens to reveal your leg and potentially much more.

I see myself wearing this amazing gown again for a gala, special occasion, or another bean/pool trip as it’s the perfect summer outfit! I do recommend not to wear it if you are drinking alcohol. Anything spilled on it is a hassle to clean up immediately and it will need to be dry clean immediately to prevent permanent staining. Want your own? Go over to their website now!
